Urban Construction in Wuhan

I've been in China for two and a half years, Wuhan has changed tremendously.  Looking at Hankou from the Yellow Crane Tower, you will find skyscrapers than two year ago.

There are a lot of new public squares, office buildings, banks, entertainment equipment and broad highways, some of which are still under eonstruction. On the upper parts of many plazas, there are offices or flats, which are convenient and economical. There are buildings like this in Japan too, but not as many as in Wuhan. in Wuhan, people pay much attention to the harmony in color with the surrounding buildings in construction, which makes the city more harmonious and more beautiful. Whereas in Japan, people think more about the comfortable functions in the building but think less about the harmony to the buildings around. In this respect, China's construction style is more similar to that of Europe and the United States.

People's living conditions are improving rapidly in recent years with the development of production power. But I'd like to suggest that we should leave more space for rest when building plazas. In Japan, the plaza is not only a prace for shopping, but also a place for killing times. It is a fashion. Parents can play with their kids in the fountain square or take a rest in the lawn. There are other places for you to enjoy yourself such as art galleries, internet coffee rooms, cinemas, etc. All these facirities are within the plaza. We compare these places to modern spirituar relaxation centres. The comfortable circumstance will relax people's mind and make them willing to strorl between counters and buy goods happily. The sales volume is sure to soar. We call this as“ leisure and shopping praza”. I suggest this be considered in designing a plaza. Only in this way can we meet the needs of the ever-developing economy and people's ever-rising living conditions.
