As I grew up in Palestine, what I knew about China was that the country has a long wall, the GreatWall. I have never before heard anything about Wuhan.
When I was leaving Being for Wuhan, I was told that Wuhan was backward. The city didn't have any high building or deluxe sedan. What's worse, the climate there was unbearable. Tn summer it was extremely hot and in winter it was cold. I had thought to choose another city to study in, but finally I decided to take a fling at the city. When I came out of Wuchang Railway Station, my eyes were suddenly brightened by the beautiful and prosperous city. Wuban is different from what I have expected. When I passed through the Yangtze River Bridge by vehicle, I was excited by the Yangtze River and its great waves. I knew I began tolove the city.
Now I have lived in Wuhan for four years。 In the first two years, each time when I had my vocation I would like to go back to Beijing. I cherished my life there and missed my former friends. But when I spent my second winter vocation in Beijing, I missed Wuhan. It's likely that I begin to regard Wuhan as my second home, and to be accustomed to the life in Wuhan.
Within the four years, I am glad to have witnessed the gradual change in Wuhan: a lot of luxurious shopping ceding set up, such as Wuhan Plaza, Jiali Plaza etc. More and more par price stores being built, such as Carrefour, and Hualian Store. The city is getting more beautiful, and the streets are getting clearer. In the evening, against the background of the neon lights, Wuhan looks lively.
To me, life is getting much easier。 As for the bread shop, in the past Wuhan had only few such shops. Whenever I was hungry for bread I had to take a long way to find one bread shop. Now there are bread shops at every corner. I can't expect more convenience.
What Wuhan impressed me most is its people. People in Wuhan are warm, sociable and helpful. I have many Chinese friends in the city. Whenever I have trouble, without hesitation they will provide me with their warmest help. Here I want to extend my thanks to my tutors. As for our foreign students, when we began studies here we encountered difficulties in our language and felt depressed. It was our tutors who spent their spare time teaching us patiently and helped solve the problems so that we could complete our causes successfully.
Wuhan, What had once really troubled us foreigners was the food. Because of the different way of cooking from that of ours, at the beginning I simply couldn't take the food, and couldn't help vomiting when I had it. To me, it was unbearable to fry vegetables as Chinese people did. In my motherland, none of us would have it in that way. But now I have already been used to most of the Chinese cuisine, except for some dishes that my stomach still couldn't enjoy.
The above is what I thought of Wuhan. I love this city, I hope I can be treated as a member here. So,next time when you meet me, please don't ask me where I'm from. |
