Wuhan in My Mind
I had been longing to study and live in the country with mysterious oriental colors. China has a long history, rich culture and diligent people. I longed to study and live in the mysterious oriental country. In 1995, I came to China from my motherland, Palestine. The next year I went to Wuhan to study clinical medicine in Tongji Medicial University. The standards of the educational facilities and the quality of the teachers of the university are both at a high level,Many new buildings have been equipped with multimedia education equipment, and the teachers of No.2 Medical Treatment Department all hold titles above that of vice professor. Hence students are enabled to learn better. The medical facilities attached to Tongji Hospital are at the international level. Since I am in China, my friends in Wuhan have named me in Chinese  Jie Wade.

At the beginning when I was in Wuhan, I had difficufties studying and living. Although I had learned some Chinese, I still had some problems understanding the special terms of medicine, and in communicating with others. To solve the problem, teachers and friends have provided me with great help. In class, teachers illustrate the lessons patiently to the foreign students, until they fully understand the context. Also dents.  I found that the warmth of the people in Wuhanis as hot as its weather in summer.

Wuhan is a beautiful city. It is situated at the lower middle reaches of the Yangtze river, and it beasts of an advanced transportat ion.  Wuhan has its own scenic and historical spots and culture of diet. The East Lake is famous for its oceanic green water that ripples in the breeze. Moshan Hill is right at the beach of the East Lake, they complement each other, looking like an elegant hill and water painting.

The Yellow Crane Tower, which is one of the three famous towers along the Yangtze river, stands on Snake Hill. The Yellow Crane Tower is famous all over the world for its splendid and unique national architectural style. It attracts countless tourists.

I have been living in Wuhan for three years, within, this period I have witnessed the great changes of the city. The economy of the city and the living standard of the people have both increased. Following the re form, the opening-up and development of coastal areas, cities along the Yangtze river have also accelerated the steps toward reform and development. Wuhan has now taken the advantage of its favorable geographic location and sound investment environment to attract foreign investors to set up factories, and therefore to promote the economic development. Many shopping centers and recreational places have been built and have added fun to people's life. The “outlook” of Wuhan has also had great changes, streets are clean and residents are satisfied with the project of the greening of the city.

What touched me most were the concerted efforts that the residents made to protect their homeland when the city encountered a devastating flood.  They donated money and materials to help people in flood-stricken areas to rebuild their homeland. Nothing can destroy such a warm, big and united family.

As a foreign student, I witnessed the change of Wuhan with each passing day, enjoyed its local conditions and customs, shared the happiness with people in Wuhan, became involved in the city like a Focal resident and came to love the city. I am moved by its grass, trees, and its kind-hearted people. Wuhan is my second hometown,I am honored to be able to study and live joyfully in the city.
