Opening Oriented Policy
    Since Wuhan was approved as the opening city along the Yangtze River, it became the hot city for foreign investment in central and west part of the country.By the end of 2003, businessmen from 50 different countries and districts have invested in Wuhan.

    The city has accumulatively approved 6300 foreign invested projects, with a contract foreign investment of 16.9 billion USD and 13.3 billion USD actually used.Within these projects, there are 4264 foreign invested enterprises, with a contract foreign investment of 8.9 billion USD and actually used 6.7 billion USD.

    More than 50 of the world top 500 transnational companies have invested in the city, include Budweiser, UTA,Visteon from U.S.A。, Citroen, Danone, Faurecia from France, Basf, SMS, Metro, Thyssenkrupp form Germany, Kawasaki, Minolta, NEC, Mitsui, Nissan, Honda from Japan, Philips for Holland, B&Q, BOC, Pilkington form U.K., Hyundai, Kumho from Korea.Besides, there are more than 300 transnational companies have setup their representative offices in Wuhan, including 110 regional headquarters.

    Up to now, foreign related tax has accounted for 20% of the total tax of the city, and the export value of foreign invested enterprises accounted for over 30% of the total export value of Wuhan.Foreign investment has largely promoted the development of local economy, and changed the city appearance and function.
