After the 1990’s, Wuhan’s economy keeps growing at two digits percentage, setting a new growth record which is high than the national average.Wuhan has been regarded by overseas and domestic economist as the ‘geo-economic center of China’.In the evaluation report on the development prospects of world cities released by the United Nations in February of 2002, 25 cities of China were amongst the most promising ones, and Wuhan ranks the 6th place.In 2003, the GDP of the city reched 166.2 billion yuan RMB, 12.1% higher than last year; total social retailed volume reached 85.4 billion yuan RMB, 12% higher than last year; and the annual disposable income of citizens reached 8525 yuan RMB, 9% higher than last year. |
