Hello yellow

  By Yang Sheng

The fan-shaped leaves of ginkgo trees turn bright yellow as the weather gets colder. Now is the best time in Wuhan to see these golden trees which can be found along the streets, in public parks, or on campuses. When bathed in autumn sunshine, they brighten up the most ordinary corners of the city.

Around three to four hundred ginkgo trees are planted along Youyi Avenue in Qingshan District and along Gaoxin Avenue in East Lake High-tech Development Zone. Other main roads and highways where the trees can be seen include the second Ring Road and Wuhan Boulevard.

Parks and gardens are among the most popular places to enjoy the trees. Hankou Riverside Park, Wuhan Botanical Garden, and Shahu Park are all on the list of choices.

Students can see them on campus. Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan Institute of Bioengineering, Hubei University of Chinese Medicine, and Wuhan University are also great examples of the delicate golden foliage.
